Retired from a 34 year career with Fluor with the last 25 years of career spent in Advanced Technologies
& Life Sciences
Professional/Expertise Experience: Forty years of design experience in varied process and industrial
facilities including hot synthetic fibers, pulp and paper, plastics, commercial, military, laboratory, food,
pharmaceutical, biotechnology, micro-electronics, and X-Ray film industries. Completed Clean Room
design expertise includes rooms from ISO 14644 Classification 9, 8, 7, 5 and ISO Class 1. Lead engineer in
responsible charge for eight Bio-Technology projects. Four of these projects are FDA-cleared to produce
therapeutics in the market to treat Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Osteoporosis, and Gastrointestinal
Illness. These validated facilities were taken from a clean sheet of paper state to constructed and
operational. Four of the eight projects included front end and preliminary engineering activities only.
Technical Consultant or performed significant work on seven other Biologics manufacturing facilities.
Design experience with Pharmaceutical Powder Containment booths and Bio-Safety Level 1 and 2
Hoods. Building Management Systems and Network expertise includes integrated process air handling
systems with control networks monitoring pharmaceutical validated systems, cold rooms, bio safety
cabinets, storage freezers, and electrical power systems. Experienced in high dispersion fans and
Bladder airflow control valves in Biotechnology and Laboratories. Custom air handling unit design
including prototyping and testing of novel component arrangements, zero HEPA filter by-pass schemes,
air blending, and high-pressure fans. Experienced in various in-duct flow measuring technologies.
Extensive experience working on International Projects and working across languages in technical
information sharing sessions. Fluor corporate subject matter expert for Air Handling Systems design.
