Matthew has Associate Degrees in both HVAC and Occupational Technology, a Diploma in Industrial Mechanics, and South Carolina Accreditation as a Commercial Energy Manager.

Wayne Vafiadis received his BSME degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and his MBA degree from Clemson University. Wayne started his career working nine years at Carrier Corporation followed by the last twenty-two with Johnson Controls Inc. 

With 31 years of HVAC experience, including 22 years at Johnson Controls (JCI), I serve as an Owner-Direct Account Executive focused on building efficiency. My primary specialty is chilled-water plant optimization, where I combine equipment engineering, advanced controls, and data-driven performance analysis to deliver measurable energy savings and enhanced system reliability for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities. I lead cross-functional collaboration across sales, engineering, and operations to deliver end-to-end solutions—from assessment and design through commissioning and ongoing optimization - driving sustainable results and strong owner partnerships. I emphasize energy performance, occupant comfort, and total cost of ownership, leveraging JCI’s portfolio to implement robust, scalable cooling and plant-optimization strategies.
